The Alexanders - Shadow Lake Shoreland Restoration

In 2024, OCNRCD installed two shoreland restoration projects on Shadow Lake, with the goals of managing the flow of stormwater and protecting eroding shorelines. These projects were identified during Lake Wise assessments done as a component of the Shadow Lake Watershed Action Plan

One of the properties was the Alexanders. Stu and Emilee Alexander were keen to facilitate in the implementation of this project, which included the installation of shoreline stabilization logs, tree and shrub plantings, and a roof runoff drain.

The cost for the project was $22,500. The Alexanders contributed $3,122 as a match. This installation will result in an estimated Phosphorus reduction value of .5lbs per year.
