Local Working Groups

As a part of our Locally Led Conservation Planning process, the District hosts Local Working Group meetings to engage community members and conservation partners in a conversation about natural resource concerns. The goal is to identify the greatest natural resource issues by getting input from Orleans County residents, farmers, foresters, and landowners to guide our work at the OCNRCD,  to inform the State's priorities, and to secure federal resources for obligation in the Orleans County Local Fund Pool.

The Local Working Group (LWG) is chaired by the local conservation district and is a subcommittee of the State Technical Committee. The LWG provides recommendations to NRCS USDA on local and state natural resource priorities and criteria for conservation activities and programs. During the LWG meetings, we review assessment data, survey results, and NRCS program statistics to recommend local conservation goals.
