Have questions about the Marketing Conservation RFB? Here are answers to some common questions. This page is designed to help prospective consultants better understand the scope, expectations, and structure of the project before submitting a proposal.

General Questions
Yes. In this project, “producer” and “farmer” are used interchangeably. We are open to a variety of agricultural operations in Orleans County.
Yes. We will be accepting a variety of producer/farm types, including produce, maple, livestock, dairy, medicinal, and other land-based operations.
Webpages & Digital Platforms
Participating farms will be selected with pre-existing websites, and webpages will be developed on those platforms.
Webpages will remain under the control of each farm, including hosting, updates, and maintenance.
Farms may have a variety of existing website platforms (e.g., WordPress, Squarespace, Wix, Shopify). The consultant should be prepared to work with whichever platform the farm currently uses. Consultants are welcome to include platforms they are comfortable working within to their proposal.
Media & Content Production
Videos should be no longer than 3 minutes. Production quality should be professional but does not need to be cinematic. Videos will be used on websites and social media. While not required, we would appreciate access to uncut footage if the consultant is willing to provide it.
Yes. OCNRCD will retain usage rights for all photos and videos for outreach, reporting, and program promotion purposes.
Social Media & Facebook Group
No. The consultant’s role is limited to strategy, templates, guidance, and recommended content. Direct posting or moderation is not required.
No. Long-term management will remain with OCNRCD. The consultant will support the initial launch and early engagement phase.
Farmer Capacity & Expectations
The program includes a one-day training, one-on-one sessions, and content review. Consultants should assume limited availability due to seasonal farming demands.
Budget & Structure
OCNRCD is open to a deliverable-based budget. Consultants may propose cost estimates based on milestones, flat fees, or hourly rates, as long as the total project budget does not exceed $30,500.
